Sachin is a hitter only. Recently Lara scored a very fast century against Pakistan before lunch proves his ability & technique which a person who was caught red handed tampering the ball like Sachin can not have.

Comparision between two legends are difficult, as both are having different styles and conditions.
The no. of matches played by Sachin / year is much more than for Lara.
I can conclude from my inferrence, that Sachin is best for One dayers and Lara is for Test

Evn I m a Indian... When we talk of records undoubtedly Sachin is the best.... But if you ask the bowlers who they think as the most destructive, most of them will go for Brian charles lara.
