I already know that people subconsciencely help me more by holding open doors, giving me better customer service etc. What I'm wondering is...is it okay to stretch that into say the workplace?? I'm in sales

The important issue is: how do you want to be perceived? You will get some automatic advantages from being attractive. If you play it too much you may find yourself judged as "just a pretty face". I think it is better to show off your talent and brains and take what comes from your looks as a bonus.

On the one hand, I'd say use whatever you've got. But on the other hand, having seen what happens when good looks mena nothing to a boss on a deadline and needs someone to get the job done, and Miss Pretty has spend more time flirting and wearing tight blouses than actually learning how to do her job and ends up getting fired, I'd say rely on your brains more.
And that's even true for sales. Sure your client may let you into his office and listen to you for an hour or more and meet you for a "business lunch", but when he goes back to his office, the bottom line is who can sell him those machine gears the cheapest. He could care less how good you look.

I think so. I have found that being a girl in the workplace means that no one listens to damned a word I say (despite having an IQ of 170). I have also found that if I ask very nicely, despite not thinking my suggestions are a good idea, the guys will often oblige me anyway. In sales in particular having a good appearance can definately help, just be careful not to come off too conceited.

I do that all the time. In my line of work I have to do a lot heavy lifting and pushing a pulling and all of the guys at work do it for me all the time. It is kind of nice in a way. It makes me feel like chivalry isn't dead. I say do anything that helps you and makes you happy.

People do it all of the time, ESPECIALLY in sales. Being good looking is nothing to be ashamed of and image matters a lot in this world.

I don't see anything wrong with this. Having good looks and appreance is the best God given gift. Use it in a decent way to achive sucess in life.

You said you are in sales? THEN YES, exploit every strength you have to get ahead. I don't think it's wrong to use looks to get ahead. GO FOR IT!

people say its not right and stuff but hell use it if you got it ;]
i know my father's company employes young, cute girls to sell their equipment cuz it works.
