I changed the timing and all driving belts 2 weeks ago on my Acura Vigor 92. It was going well, until recently. When I start the car, the power pump belt has trouble to drive the power pump. The belt then squeaks very loud until the pump start to be driven by the belt after about 3-5 seconds. The tension is good, and it doesn't do this before. This only happens when I start the car (in cold winter), and once the noise is gone (pump rotates smoothly), there is no sound even when I turn lock to lock at idle. Any one have an idea???

Not really that much to worry about if it only goes for a few seconds.

But, if you are worried about it you could replace the belt. If that doesnt sort it out then go to the nearest auto place and get a product like 'Belt Grip'. You spray it on the belt while it is turning and it adds a gripping agent to the belt. So, when you start the car in the morning, there is instant grip by the belt onto the pump pulley and no noise.

The pump will make more of a growling sound. The belt usually squeals. Have you checked the PS fluid?

do you have the proper power steering fluid in the system.

Is the system low on fluid? Both will make a noisy pump.
