I was thinking that I might be interested in becoming a travel agent. If any of you are travel agents could you please let me know if you need to travel a lot, if you like your job, how much money you make, the job outlook, any education needed, and the job description. This would help me a lot! Thank you!

I can only tell you what little bit that I've heard. While being a travel agent might get you some discounted (or free?) vacations or plane fare, there is a lot of selling involved. The hours may also be irregular including evening and weekends. If there is a course nearby that is affordable, perhaps you can try that first before one of those private schools that cost so much money. I wonder if some traveling agencies will pay for training or even offer the training. Perhaps you can inquire at some local agencies about that. Good luck!

I have the perfect solution for you. I just became an RTA (Referring Travel Agent) myself. Takes some work to start up but nothing complicated at all. I can help you every step. There are great tax saving benefits, perks and upgrades available, and unlimited commission possibilities.
Please email me at mytravelquest@comcast.net or Call my cell at 304-638-1799. I'm not a salesman, and very easy to talk to.
Thanks.

I am not sure of the long term potential. More and more people are booking their own trips online, and bypassing the travel agencies. It's cheaper doing it that way.
