That's ridiculous. Angels need to keep their space. And that means away from Dodger Stadium

Los Angeles is now both Dodger and Angel territory. That is the message that Arte Moreno is giving. He has served notice that the Angels are not going to be treated as the second team of the LA area. By changing the name to LA Angels of Anaheim, the Angels got a TV package last year from Fox Sports West worth $10 million more than it would have been as the Anaheim Angels. All joking aside about the Brooklyn Dodgers of LA kind of stuff, that $10 million, according to Mike Scioscia, translates into a new impact player (or on the Angels roster, 5 not so impact players).

I am a long time ANAHEIM Angels fan. I think it's pretty healthy for Dodger fans, it serves as a reminder to Dodgers management that they need to continue to grow and build winning teams to keep their market share.
But the whole LA Angels of Anaheim crap is just stupid. Does Artie really think that it makes a difference, we live in a world of Google maps where kids learn geography from wars and disasters. Win a World Series and they will look you up no matter where you are! So build a winning team and everyone will know where you are.
As for taking fans away from the Dodgers because you call your team LA... If you live in LA, you know where Anaheim is and you are not going to trick me by changing the name... somewhere around Sante Fe Springs I might ask why I am entering Orange County to see an LA team... So let's get back at Artie...with -
The Brooklyn Dodgers of Los Angeles.. or Orange County Dodgers of Los Angeles. Let's just cover all bases, USA Dodgers of Los Angeles. And if Tampa Bay wants to sell more tickets - Cuba is not taken....

I live in the OC... grew up in Anaheim, and have been a lifelong Angels fan.
Art Moreno is an ******. He claims he changed the name for international marketing reasons, as LA has more recognition than Anaheim.
I haven't heard about those billboards. I don't think Dodger fans are interested in the Angels, although I would rather see a game at Anaheim Stadium than at Chavez Ravine.

I think the Angels owner wants to steal all the Dodger fans. It won't happen though, real fans would never switch to the Angels. I hate seeing all those billboards. Every where I turn I see one. Can you believe there was one by the entrance to Dodgers Stadium?

arturo moreno is the best owner in baseball. that's what's with them. he doesn't care where he advertises.
and btw, he changed the name to LA angels because when he was a kid and just had come to the US the angels were the LA Angels and it was his childhood dream to own the team. arturo came to this country with nothing and now he owns a baseball team. that's pretty amazing. and the best part about him, he sits in the stands with fans, never even in the same section. and when he bought the team, he lowered beer prices, making the angels the team with the lowest beer prices.

Moreno is an excellent owner and doing everything to ensure HIS TEAM prospers.
LA has a huge fan base and I think it's ridiculous that this is even an issue.
Sup with Chicago? NY?

A hostile takeover is what it is! Their owner Arty Moreno is trying to steal fans from L.A. and that's why they changed their city name.
