Nothing is missing. The legends usually on the obverse and reverse is on the rim of the new dollars. Well that was the idea, but in order to strike a lot of coins per hour, things had to be a little, for no better word, sloppy. So some of the legends are upside down, not in the same place and sometimes not there at all. I think the not there at all, maybe a scarce occurrence, only time will tell. In God We Trust is on the rim.

There were some coins that were struck with the inscriptions on the end of the coins - there were also some coins struck with the inscription upside down - however the rumors about in God We Trust being removed from the coin were false - The new George Washington $1 coin, issued February 15, 2007 to inaugurate the U.S. Mint's Presidential $1 Coin Program, does contain the motto "In God We Trust." It is inscribed, along with "E Pluribus Unum," on the edge of the coin instead of on its face.

Nothing is missing. instead of putting "In God We Trust" on the face of the coin, it is now written on the side of the coin.
