Two millennia ago,
when Jesus Christ led the world,
the total world population was only between 200 and 300 million.
When Mahatma Gandhi had to lead,
the population of this globe has expanded to almost 4000 million,
among which 300 million were Indians.
So
Who is to be considered as....
the GREATEST leader among them ?

This is a very good question and I would really love to answer this. But I think this question is a bit odd because you're trying to draw a comparison between to things which're not on the same level - one is perceived as God another is known for his greatness. But anyway since you've asked this let us for a moment forget about Jesus's divinity. so your question is who should be considered the greatest ?? If you've a good knowledge of Gandhi's biography then you would know that Gandhi considered Jesus one of his main teachers and inspirations for Nonviolent Resistance. Gandhi was so inspired by Jesus's 'turn the other cheek' philosophy that says:
"...You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on (your) right cheek, turn the other one to him as well. "You have heard that it was said,'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same?"(Matthew 5:39,44,46)
Gandhi made this verses the VERY Foundation for India's Non violent Freedom struggle. Many times in many interviews and writings Ghandi has credited Jesus as his source for these life principles. And isn't this quite amazing that a person can actually put these PRINCIPLE into PRACTICE when all of us have miserably failed and this practice have indeed yeilded great fruits ??I find it quite astonishing actully. Gandhi was a great human being - someone who is larger than life and I love Gandhi. And It's almost IMPOSSIBLE to create another Gandhi and even if it's possible I don't know how many generations it would take and that's even more amazing. Because he is a man who was not born with greatness but he was someone who had acquired greatness by implementing great principles in life.
Now to come back to your question, I would say it was NOT only Gandhi who was inspired by Jesus but there're many more in every generations including Martin Luther king & Mother Teresa. so as you've compared the world's population then and it's now, all I would say is if you think a bit intently you would know that at the end IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY MATTER HOW HUGE A POPULATION YOU INFLUENCE BUT "HOW MANY GENERATIONS" YOUR LEGACY LIVES ON THAT ACTUALLY COUNTS. So to wrap it all up I would say if these two Great men like Jesus and Gandhi were born in the same time frame and in the same Geographic location then I think probably Gandhi would have been one of Jesus's MOST LOVED & MOST POWERFUL Disciple.

Jesus, Muhammed, Ghandi, Buddha....all of them are considered to be great teachers by most religions.
Even radical Islamic extremists, who blow up Christians, will tell you that believe that Jesus is a prophet.
Christians, of course, believe He is the only begotten Son of God.
The very prophets that universalists lay claim to all contradict each other. Some say one thing while others say another.
Why, then, are they all accepted as inspired? Is God confused ?
As we try to embrace all of these faiths as divine, let us ponder this question...
Who does Jesus claim to be, and what does He believe?
In The Book of John, Jesus says, "I am the way the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me."
Some may deny the authenticity of this quote, saying that the Bible was translated by man. Okay...but why, then, are these same skeptics so willing to accept the easier verses as inspired?
The same Jesus who claims that we must not judge our neighbor, makes no exceptions when He claims to be the only way to God.

mahatma gandhi is the greatest. mahatma lead the people to freedom. he did not ask them to follow them to make a religion. jesus made one more religion because of which now society is suffering.mahatma gandhi lead the people for a purpose. when the purpose is served, he kept himself away from the society.

Well, to give you an idea as to the magnitude, Jesus, a perfect man, was doing the will of The Creater of Heaven and Earth, while Mahatma, although considered to be quite a noble man, still was an imperfect human only, and was doing his own will...

I'm from Romania and I am theoretically a Christian. Practically I am a merge of my own ideas and those of other religions. My guessing is that we should think about how many adepts Jesus and Mahatma had over the centuries, not just in the period they lived in. Now, there are hundreds of kinds of Christians, while not so many Indians.........
