I was watching a show the other day and they had a girl on there named Austin. I never really thought about it, but I actually like the name.

LoL I understand the gender specification, but it's not exactly something new, considering one of the characters in 'Gone With The Wind' was named Ashley and he was a man.

AUSTIN sounds fine for a girl......
REAGAN is cute but I think of the kid in THE EXORCIST.......
And I really hope adorable MADISON's Mommy gets over being so sensitive about her name before she starts school.
I mean, it's not like she named her Brittany...
and it's okay for people to have different opinions and ask questions.
I once told a boy who loved the name Jennifer for a girl,
"Yeah, I liked it also until it became the name of every second girl born in America."
To which he wisely replied:
"True...but you can never have too many Jennifers'..."
So many names start out being used for both genders then eventually end up more on one side than the other.
Think of Taylor, Tyler, Ashley. Ashton.on and on it goes...
Jane Austin was a very famous woman writer before Austin was the capital of Texas. You can always tell her she was named for someone of whom she can be very proud.

I like the name for a girl! I usually don't like odd spellings of names but you might think about Austyn or something like that, but Austin is just fine! I think it would be cute if you paired it with a traditional girl name it would be cute.

Austin Grace
Austin Elaine
Austin Renee
Austin Elise

No, it's not really my cup of tea for a girl. I suppose it could work but I guess it would have to grow on me.
Austin Leah
Austin Elizabeth
Austin Rose
Austin Grace
Austin Emma
Austin Victoria
Austin Rebecca
Austin Charlotte
I would put it with an unmistakeable feminine name to offset the masculine sounding Austin.

First of all, Ashley was originally a guys name, so was Kelly. Second of all the name Austin is okay, for a girl, but not the gratest. It is really bad for a guy. Austin Jane is a nice combinnation.

It seems that since its a stronge name for a girl it should have a more feminine middle name.

Hmm, ive never heard of austin as a girl's name, but it's unique. I like it. It depends on what your last name is...or will be, but I like Austin Mariah. Maybe pick a real feminine sounding middle name to offset the first??

I love the name, it's my brothers name! I think it would be cute as a girls name as long as the middle name was feminine. Also maybe try some different spellings of it.

You should really reconsider giving a girl the name Austin. My name is Dallas ( female) and it was TOUGH growing up with the name. Always think about what kids can say.
