I completely disagree!!! I think there are alot of not only good songs, but GREAT songs on the market right now. There are so many songs, and music is so diverse. There is something for everyone!!! I personally am partial to country, but also love R7B and some rap and rock, including older rock, and here are some of the songs I feel are some of the best.

Are you kidding me? Every time I hear "Far Away" or "Bad Day" or some other piece of musical BS it aggravates me to extremes (hence my nickname, it's a play on Sting's line from "Money for Nothing").

Music today has gone so far down the drain it's almost indescribable. Just today I heard Nelly's "Ride Wit Me" and the lyrics in that song are just absolutely insubstantial and inadequate. There's all sorts of drug and sex lyrics along with other themes. Other artists like Eminem, 50 Cent and many others don't contribute much to brain cells either.

But I'll also admit we have our own flaws in Rock. It really started with the Stones but from there it just took off. If I were a band that had performed at Woodstock I would openly apologize for the extensive drug use at the festival. The raw numbers are just staggering from the time period and just completely dishonorable for the generation. These troubles continue to today were we have bands like Aiden, Good Charolotte, Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance and others that contribute to various self-inflicted troubles such as phychological instability.

I'm also not leaving modern Pop out of this discussion as well. Various musical artists from this genre such as Pink, Madonna, Lindsay Lohan and many others also contribute to both the self-inflicted harm scene and also the sex scene as well. Anorexia and bulemia are still a major problem in the genre today and as more and more young girls start to look up to these people they inherit the anorexia and bulemia traits as well. Various songs also increase the sex scene and rate as well with skimpy clothing, innuendo in song lyrics and immature actions while off of the stage.

I say that modern music needs a major overhaul. Not only is it degrading the new generation of people but it is also one of the worst songwriting times in the history of modern music. As a songwriter I look for musical ability and talent in my music and lately I've found very little of either. Suprisingly I'll admit that of all of my favorite musical artists from 2000 on my favorite would have to be Train. Their lyrics are nicely inter-woven into current issues of various sorts and their musical parts are also decent (although they could be better). We really need more bands like pre-1980 Pink Floyd though, they really set the bar at where it should be before they released "The Wall" (which has countless drug references in it). If modern musicians could just stop and see what they're doing to young people then maybe there'd be some hope for music, but until they do there's really no end in site. Eventually music will be just like sex, drugs and alcohol to the ppint where every time you listen to music you'll just waste away and have to pay for it later.

Good music is not running out, but mainstream music belongs to fewer and fewer companies. They don't care about fresh music as much as profit, so the same profitable stuff gets recycled.

Independant record labels and radio stations are good sources for good music.

Yes! Why do you think the older groups keep getting the awards and keep going on tour. The newer music just doesn't stand the test of time.

They began to run out in the early 80s. Good music has become increasingly rare ever since.

I think they are too. Just look for underground bands and independant radios. Also, purevolume.com has tons of great new artist, and all the songs are free to listen to.

I think that, instead of recruiting bands that have extensive knowledge about music, they are signing lots of pretty little kids who have no clue about what they are doing. Have you noticed that none of them write their own songs?
