I know the river, in itself, represents always moving. But, can any of you help me dig further as to why this river was so important to not only Huck but Twain, too?

The rivier is hucks only means of life. He and Jim never are far from the river so that they can always make a quick escape. The river is Jims only escape from slavery, and his only means to try to rescue his family. The river was important to twain because Twain was a steamboat capitan, and his name (twain) means 12 feet. Twain is a form of measurement used by steamboat capitans as a form of measurement that is actually a pole used by runners that told the capitan about how much more clearance the steamboat has so that it dosent get cought on a sand bar.
