The progesterone active component of the birth control Yasmin works well because it acts as a diuretic to shed some of the excess water weight. This will not counteract the increase hunger and appetite of estrogen but at least it will minimize the bloating.

Planned Parenthood is an excellent source of the information you are seeking. There is likely a center or office in your city. A ob/gyn should be able to give you several options and pharmacists have a store of knowledge on the drugs they dispense.

Condoms are always great! They not only protect against pregnancy but against STD's. I also recommend using something in addition to condoms, such as the pill. I'm not sure about hormone levels in different pills/etc but you need to see an OB/GYN to get on the pill and they can help you with that.

Seansonal is great. You only have a period every 3 months and it is low dose. I haven't gained weight using it and most people don't. Ask your OBGYN what they recommend. I have heard that is interferes with calcium absorbtion. Also birth control is not good for smokers. Also don't forget that some anti-biotics interfere with bc.

Levora (Microgynon in the UK) has the lowest dosage of hormones possible (that I know of) and never caused me to gain weight.
