I will be starting a business soon and i dont want someone else to take my salon name in the future.

Is this likely to happen

Depends on how original the name is as to whether it is likely that someone is going to use the same name as you!!

If you want to protect the business name against use by others then yes you would have to pay to protect the copyright!

to properly and legally conduct business you must register your business with the state. When its registered the name is then secured from anyone else taking it. If you don't create a company, llc, s corp, etc. then you are doing business illegally.

Register the name as a trademark. Yes you have to pay for it but I don't think it's that expensive.

You should get the name trademarked and/or copywrited for your protection. You will have to pay a fee.
