Dont put anything up his little but. My son was also constipated at birth midwives told me that some baby's don't poop for 2/3 days, but they also told me to put 1 teaspoon of brown sugar in 30 mls of cooled boiled water and give this him 3 times a day when he starts pooping regularly decrease to 2 times a day and gradually to 1 times a day then his little bowels should be working on their own. Most baby's are constipated for awhile until their bowels start working on their own

First answer these questions: Is he breastfed or bottlefed? Breastfed babies are never considered constipated. Does he look like he's straining or in pain? If so, I would at least call the doctor before you do anything. I know of a child (he's about 8 years old now) who had a bowel obstruction at 3 weeks old and needed surgery.

Otherwise, try taking his temperature rectally. You don't need to put the thermometer in far, just a touch.
