I was on the pill for 6+ years and just quit taking them in December. My periods were regular in december and january, but in February, my period was/is very late. This is usually caused by the hormonal shift from going off the pill and your dr will most likely put you on a medication to boost the progesterone in your body. AFter that you should be free and clear!

As a general rule, they say it takes about 3 months after going off the pill before you'll be able to conceive. If you have been trying for a year with no results, then its time to see the dr.

To make sure you are ovulating (when the time comes for trying to conceive) use a fertility monitor or ovulation prediction kits. You can also chart your temperature using a basal body thermometer.

Before you start trying, see your doctor for a pre pregnancy screening. The dr will also put you on prenatal vitamins as well.

The pill should help to regulate your periods. Most of the people I know who have gone off birth control to get pregnant have conceived within very few months

Personally I was on the pill for 3 year and had irregular periods and know i just got pregnant while being on the pill.
but talk to your obgyn.
also i would probably stop taking the the pill for a while and use other methods so when you want to get pregnant it might not be hard. good luck!
