For me, the best was seeing Alaskan brown bears grabbing salmon out of the air as the salmon jumped Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park, Alaska.

I've seen many, many fantastic sights and it was difficult to pick just one. Others that come to mind are Havasu Falls in Havasu Canyon, the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park, the sunrise at Haleakala National Park, the Milky Way Galaxy as seen from the summit of Mauna Loa in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, humpback whales in Kenai Fjords National Park and the inner gorge of the Grand Canyon as you float down the Colorado River, just to name a few.

The Columbia River Gorge in Oregon and the Oregon & Washington coastlines. Absolutely breathtaking. A hiker's paradise.

I also love Iowa but not for the cornfields. Lots of beautiful places all over the state unspoiled by tourism.

For me, without a doubt, it's Yellowstone National Park. My favorite spot there is a huge meadow where herds of buffalo and elk (and various other animals) graze near each other. It's a scene straight out of Jurassic Park (but no dinosaurs now) that will take your breath away.

Add to that, the numerous natural hot springs bubbling out of the ground, surrounded by amazing colors caused by the various minerals.

I wish I could paint the picture for you with words but you'll have to see it to believe it.

To me, early September is the best time to go because most kids are back in school (so it's not as crowded with tourists) but it's not awfully cold yet. Past approx. the third week in September, much of it closes for the season.

I hope you get to see Yellowstone!

Niagara Falls is amazing!! It's right on the border between US and Canada though, and I was on the Canada side. I got to go on the Lady of the Mist and boat right up under it. The overwhelming power of the water was incredible.

My other favorite is the Grand Tetons. They are just a majestic beauty worth a visit.

The Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf of Mexico, there is nothing better than sitting on the beach watching a sunrise/sunset. And I get to see it daily and I remind myself each time of how beautiful it is

Haven't been to very many outside the southeastern US. My absolute favorite thus far has been a trip to Pikes Peak in Colorado. Just beautiful!
