I want to buy a greek tortise. i know what i am getting into, 50 years + of living with him, food, cage, light and everything. i just want to know more. first, were do i get one? anthing else i need to know? any more info? any answers welcome.

Try to buy directly from a breeder, not a pet shop or on-line wholesaler. Most 4" or larger Greek tortoises for sale in pet stores, even the big chain pet stores, are wild-caught, imported animals. Try some of the dealers listed at www.turtleforum.com to find a breeder. Also try Petfinder.com to adopt - not many come up for adoption, but it doesn't hurt to look. Also, www.tortoisetrust.org is good for care information. Also consider joining a local or regional herp club to chat with other keepers.
