i guess this is a trick question but i cant figure out what it is!! big ben is the really big bell and it gets struck each hour of the day the same number of times as the hour so:
( 1+2 +3 + . . .. +11+12)*2 =156
not counting any of the minor chimes that go on of course!

but it is never that simple is it?

I don't know .But it seems to keep the pigeons away.
