How about what you are going to wear? (2 sets of clothing just in case) Make-up? Feed? you might want to take a watering bucket and grooming supplies. Some spare tack is also a good idea. Also, a lot of theft goes on at shows... be sure you can lock up all of your things. Take a camera and a small note pad and pencil or pen... you might want to write down some pointers, numbers or ideas.... Always... eat a well balanced diet and take lots of bottled water and fruit and veggies.....sometimes it is just too easy to eat junk then your performance will suffer and your posture isn't as nice. (share the veggies with your horse) Good luck!

Well, for trailering in you'll want to consider protective equipment. I always advise leg wraps or shipping boots, preferably the boots. They protect the legs from hoof to knee and hock. This is particularly important if you have horse that can get nervous or skittish on the trailer. Some horses also benefit from leather head bumper, particularly if they're very tall or prone to tossing their head.

Don't forget that a show probably means braiding. Even at the open and schooling level, judges appreciate a braided horse. That means you'll need yarn, scissors, a seem-ripper, and either a sprayer of water or Quic Braid.

And you're going to need show clothes. For a traditional hunter or equitation class, you'll need a show shirt, hunt coat, breeches with a European seem (the Tailored Sportsman brand is everywhere), field boots, and a certified helmet. The GPA helmet is the most widely seen on the circuit, but there are still people who ride in regular velvet Charles Owens and such.

You'll also need a copy of a negative coggins test dated within the past year and your rabies certificate. Most shows won't let you in the ring without a copy of both.

Apart from that, make sure that all your usual tack is cleaned and oiled. You'll also want to make sure you have the right pad. Many people school in square All-Purpose pads, but you'll want to make sure you have a fleece or sheepskin shaped pad. Make sure that everything matches, too, especially in the hunters and equitation rings where appearance CAN make a difference. In the jumpers, things are more relaxed. You'll be able to show in breeches and a polo for most open shows, and less attention has to be paid to braiding and coordinating tack.

you'll need a pair of tall boots (black), breeches (tan), belt (any belt will work) a shirt with the special riding collar (white tends to be least expensive) , jacket (navy is nice), helmet of course and a hair net to tuck your hair up..looks soooo much neater. as far as shipping, if its cold leave her blanket on, if you can afford it get shipping boots but if not just wrap with some polo wraps, and hang a hay net for her to chew on. when you get to the show be sure that she is being supervised if she is not used to being in a trailer, if she is anxious then take her out and walk her around so she doesn't hurt herself. then just HAVE FUN!!!
