1. Forget what your kitchen looks like.
2. Sit quietly in a place where you can relax and won't be disturbed for 20 minutes and recall the events of the day.
3. Close your eyes and imagine a box in your mind - imagine it's red, yellow, blue, etc. Just imagine various colors, sizes, and shape until you note improvement.
4. Learn to make mind/concept maps - it's like a game of word association. Start with a key concept in the middle of a blank page and write down other ideas associated with it. Build your map from there (Look up Tony Buzan, and Harry Lorraine).
5. Think about an event in your life that you would like have turned out differently. What would you change? How would you do it better today (The key is to explore your way of thinking with questions)?
6. Imagine you can interview a celebrity in the near future. Write out some interview questions you'd like the answers to; assume that this person is willing to answer anything you ask.
That's just a few...

Begin to think out of the box. When you look at a problem, don't immediately restrict your creative process with thoughts like, "That would never work" or "That's stupid" - let the initial thoughts start a brainstorm.
Often people say that looking at paradoxical art helps them begin to expand their imagination.
Find things that really inspire you and then allow your mind to wander and really think creatively.
Don't be afraid to try new things as this can also stimulate imagination. Visit a museum you've never been to before, explore books about topics that interest you, take a trip to a new place or try a new hobby.
Art and music exploration can also be helpful.
