If he was still young and I knew he was going to be as great as he turned out to be I would go with Brodeur. The goalie is the one guy who can win you a game, a series or a cup. He's on the ice the longest and if I knew my team only had to score 3 a night to win because Marty was going to stop the other guys at 2 I'd pick him first. Sid is still a nonfactor. He could get hurt and never play again before he ever sets any records.

I would build my team around Crosby. This is only because Brodeur and Neidermayer (both VERY good) are quite old. I'd go with the much younger Crosby, for he has put up AMAZING number these past two years. He can score and pass and is going to be great for many years to come. But, getting any of these player to build my team around would be amazing... it's just that Crosby is the best choice.

Even though I live in Pittsburgh and am a huge Sidney Crosby fan, I would start to build my team around Martin Brodeur. He is shaping up to be the best goaltender of all time, and I would want to have his leadership and experience on my team.

Thats pretty easy. Crosby. Neidermayer and Brodeur dont have that many years left, so building around them wouldn't be all that smart.

Sidney Crosby... I think Martin Brodeur is incredible and he is maybe the most important player in the NHL... but I would never build a team around a goal tender. Build it around a elite forward. I would prefer Joe Thornton but since you gave me Sidney he's my pick.

Crosby without a doubt. That kid is just getting started. There isn't a harder working player in the league. Brodeur is the man in goal but it would be very tough to pass Crosby up when his potential is seemingly limitless. Oh yeah and the devils make me sleepy. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Well how old is Brodeur? Are we going by their CURRENT age? Then Crosby. If we are going by Brodeur about 10 years ago, then Brodeur. Nothing like an excellent goalie.

as much of a crosby fan i am, i would have to say brodeur. You need stellar goaltending to make a team. Look at NJ now, they have decent people but even their stars are spectacular. Elias, Lagenbrunner, Gomez? Nothing special but with a backstop like brodeur you can put a team of 2nd liners in front of him and still have a playoff contender.

If I was getting all the players at the same age and for their entire careers I would go with Brodeur in a heartbeat. Great goaltending can overcome a lackluster offense and shaky defense. Easy question for another Kings fan this year. If taking today for the rest of their careers, Sid because of age.

None of the 3 answers would be wrong of course.

I'm sure my status as a King's fan (and suffering with that Goaltending) has biased my thinking, but I would have to go with Brodeur. To win a Stanley cup you MUST have outstanding Goaltending, but you can get by with an average Offense. One only has to look at the New Jersey Devils!
