I also had sharp pain underneath my rib cage, but I was advised that maybe my baby kicks right there. Or it could be gas... My baby was born 8lbs 9 oz and I wuz 120 llbs, so I was all baby and she was running out of room to kick. But to be on the safe side, any pains should be reported to your doctor. If its a small scale pain, then usually it is nothing serious. However, if it is a serious pain that could make you cry, go to your doctor or ER. Best wishes!

at 39 weeks your baby should have turned or is turning so it could be a leg or your babys foot, it could also be your ribs moving slightly to make more room for the baby but as it comes and goes i would say its the first.
if worried phone doctors or nhs direct they will be able to put your mind at ease but it is nearly over now but i would not worry too much as i had that with both mine and it was only feet (little beggers)

I had this and I think it was baby pushing under my ribs. If it seems unusually painful I would get it checked out though. Hope everything goes well with you both.

I agree - this should be under 'Men's Health'!!! But it may well be either epididymitis or orchitis. These are infections of the localized area and can normally be treated quite easily and effectively You may need a shot course of antibiotics - refer to your GP/MD/Medical adviser as soon as possible.

I had this in my pregnancy and my little one had managed to lift one of my ribs up to make more room for himself - its perhaps that - especially if your baby is running out of space! All ligaments are relaxed around this area during pregnancy so take it easy!

Everyones contractions feel different. Mine were a pain that wrapped around me where I would normally have menstual cramps but I also felt it in my back. Call your doctor, he may send you to the hospital.

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and I get that, at the top of the bump.
With me it's wind/gas, maybe it's the same for you but I'd speak to your midwife about it next time you see her.
