in the womb, do twins and such branch off a main ambilicle cord? or do they each have their own?

No, twins, triplets, et cetera do not share umbilical cords (note the spelling).

Christmas lights? Hard to say. I've never known christmas lights to come from the womb of a female, so I'm not a big fan of comparing the two.
