Why do child predators receive special treatment?

Why are they protected when convicted and put in segregated cells/detention centers?

Shouldn't they be put in general population and left to deal with the crimes they committed? Why do they receive special treatment even though they are perpetrators of horrible crimes against kids?

Its like this , If they are put with the general public they will be raped and or murdered, because that is a no,no in prison and In some cases the guards tell the other inmates the new guy is a child predator. I think they should be put with the general population.....

So that no one will beat the crape out of them, most of these child predators, when they are kids were abused as well, but never got the help they should have and do that they became the monster they are today, but if locked in cells with guys twice their size they again would once again become a victim and would never be able to cope with their own inner demons.

It's just better for everyone to keep them separated. It's not special treatment, it just better to keep them away from others, so they can be kept an eye on and get the help they all seriously need. And if they ever out, hopefully the law will do a better job at keeping an eye on them and wont lose them some where down the line.

The prison system is not designed to hand out daily tortures for child sex offenders. He would be punished by those locked up dads in prison no doubt and I'm sure he deserves it. The problem is you can not intentionally put someone in harms way. General population is sick. I think they should be protecting the young first time offenders who go to prison and get abused by other inmates. There is no rehabilitation for child sex offenders ever they are not right, they are sick people who should be locked up together, then you don't have to protect them from gen pop.
