As others have said, that is caled an "acronym." It might also be impressive for you to know that an acronym is an abbreviation that can be pronounced.

For example, FBI, CIA, and CSI are just abbreviations because when you say them, you just pronounce the letters: "eff-bee-eye," "see-eye-ey," and "see-ess-eye."
