you think the Republic of Texas was a success or failure between 1836 and 1845? (or something in between)?

Success. Yes, they did end up joining the US but they created something of immense value hence the ability to become part of the US so quickly and without much controversy. Pretty impressive for less than 10 years as an independent republic.

Actually, we joined the U.S. because of very large debts that the U.S. govt. paid off, in exchange for a large chunk of the Republic. Whether it was a success or not, I think it could've been.

Been in Texas a long time

Texas wanted to be its own nation, the war with Mexico proved that they could not be self sufficient, they needed the rest of America on their side to stave off Mexico. They joined the union but still think of themselves as the Nation of Texas!

Any Republic of sucks especially a Fascist Capitalistic one like our USA! That excludes everyone except the few wealthy! They are all failures.

Tough to say. Really, they only joined the US to keep from getting overrun by Mexico, so you could probably put one in the failure column for that.
