Sarah Boone, African-American inventor:

She received patents in 1887 and 1892. but there is nothing about how old she was when she filed it. Only thing known for certain is she lived during the later part of the 19th century.

But about her biography, that's a mistery to me. I've search high and low for you but could not find any info on her life prior to the patent.
