SiO2 or a variant of quartz.. rather common gem wise (as common as sand) now if you want a really rare gem try chrysoberlite (alexandrite) I have an orginal ones from russia (BeAl2O4) not one of the manufactured irradiated worthless ones of today .. its small but its worth is at least 3X more than any diamond...
