What does university studies mean?

Iam a high school senior and applied to a college and received a letter that said I was majoring in University Studies, when I tried to major in Pre-med.

As others have said "university studies"=undecided or undeclared.

Most schools do not have a "Pre-Med" major. It's a track under other majors, like biology and chemistry. So, it's possible if you wrote in "Pre-Medical" they stuck you in University Studies because pre-med doesn't exist.

Also, many schools don't let you pick your major (within the college you were accepted under, i.e. Arts & Science, Engineering, Business) until your a Junior. This was the case where I graduated from, I was "Business Undecided" until I filed a degree plan as a junior.

A major in "University Studies" is the same as general studies or 'undecided'. If you declared your major as pre-med and the program you applied to has certain pre-reqs this could mean you haven't met those yet (some schools have different admissions requirements for different programs or you have to complete some general undergraduate coursework before you can enter the program). Or you wrote it in differently than the school names it (pre medicine vs pre professional health science). Some schools actually don't let first semester students declare a major and you will have to declare it later. Or it could simply be a mistake. Whatever the reason, you should be able to sort it out easily enough by talking to the school's registration/admissions people.

it just means your major is undecided. don't worry you wont get a degree in university studies. you pick your major usually during your 1-2 year there.
