Certainly seems that way sometimes.
Mostly no. They just perform certain functions quicker and faster.
Some people could be replaced by PCs and I am sure there would be either little change or an improvement :-)

Well, it depends on what the computer was made to do. Also, you have to remember that people make computers. Until computers can make other computers, learn, and adapt with out the programming of people, humans in general are smarter. However, one day it could be possible. Have you ever seen the movie Idiocracy?

As of now, computers have no intelligence. They only do what they are programmed to do. But sadly enough they are still smarter than some people.

In some respects yes. Mathematically yes. But a computer can only hold information that has been programmed by a human. The vast extent of this information suggests that because it can HOLD more information it is more intelligent.

The way you ask the question. Computers are programmed by people that are smater thatn the average person. However, they are not smater than all people. They are simply machines that can interpret information in a manner faster and more economically than the average person.

Not even close, unless you consider the poor souls who got nasty accident and wind up in as veggie state. Even the famous Big Blue back then is no more than running a Greedy Algorithm gathering what if stats.

No, they aren't smart at ALL. That would require conscious thought, which is not yet able to be synthesized.
All computers can do is process data they have been fed--they can't come up with anything new.

Not yet.
But with some people you really have to wonder.
Like the kind of people that buy Windows Vista.
They can't figure things out for themselves so they want the operating system to tell them what to do.

computers only have what you put into them. they are totally brainless . if you dont believe me unplug it and see what happens
the big deal with pcs are that they pass along info a lot faster than us. useful information is easily accessed. BUT can you believe everything you read?
nothing is written in stone online. remember that.
