I think they did. Have any of you watched the movie Loose Change? There is a whoooooole lot of evidence that points to the US government having something to do with the attacks. Go to Google video and search for the movie. You will be shocked!

Ok. Once again: I would love to believe that 9/11 was an inside job. Here is why I don't.
How many people would it take to pull off a job of this magnitude? I would venture to guess that it would have to get into the hundreds, if not one thousand. SO, what you are saying is that you expect me to believe, that the US Government could find 500 (lets say) people to do the deal, and 6 years later, they are still completely quiet. None of the participants have had a change of heart, a conscience attack, or a drunken slip of the toungue? Further, out of these participiants, do you expect me to believe there was not one anti-war pacifist hippie leftist, that on seeing the results of his actions - wars in 2 countries - has not felt the need to step forward?
I have watched many of the "loose change" type videos - including Loose Change itsself because I have a life-long friend who is into this up in Chicago. I see that there are some valid points in the video, but no SOLID evidence. About the only thing I can fully buy is the WTC7 falling.
If you were taking this case to court, and all you had was the conjecture, theory and videos that are available right now, do you think you would win? I doubt it.
Find some more evidence - hard evidence and I will buy your story.
As far as the government allowing it to happen, that is like saying you LET/WANTED your car get stolen while you were in paying for your gas because you left the doors unlocked. I don't think any American - any nationality - would allow mass murder of their citizens if there was anything they could do about it.
YEah...just too many people involved.
All those people missing in NY, all the people on the airliners, all the firemen, cops, etc, private companies who lost big money in assets...etc...you really expect me to buy ALL of them are just being good little kids and shutting up?

I do not believe the government had anything to do with it, but I can tell what you believe just from your name.
Why don't I believe it? Here's why:
1. HOW would they have kept it a secret? The sheer amount of people that would have to have been involved, and the years of planning, makes it nearly impossible.
2. The only conspiracy theory which makes sense, which is that perhaps the government hired the terrorists (I'll get to why this is the only one that would make sense), is blown out of the water by the fact that there would be no purpose for it. What, for money? Please. There are easier ways to get money without enraging an entire country, not to mention the Arab world because they think we're after them, and CERTAINLY not to mention involving us in two wars, and killing three thousand innocent civilians, 59,000 Iraqi civilians, and almost 3000 of our own soldiers.
3. There are still conspiracy theories out there. If our government was diabolical enough to attempt such a thing as organizing the terrorist attacks on 9/11, they wouldn't hesitate to execute every person who even THOUGHT that they were behind 9/11. Is the CIA at your house? No? Alright then.
4. I mentioned that the only way it would make sense is if the terrorists were hired by the government. The reason for this is that there were too many witnesses, and it is obvious that there really were terrorists on the planes...unless of course, those who called their loved ones and described what was happening were lying. If that's the case, why would they lie? Were they paid off? And if they were paid off, how did the government find them? How did they know that what they were planning wouldn't get out? And furthermore, WHERE did the people on the planes go? Are they still alive somewhere? There are too many people who SAW the planes, and only an idiot wouldn't know the difference between a civilian plane and a military drone, or a missile.
I could go on, but those are my top four. It just doesn't make any sense. Nothing that goes on in DC can be kept a secret for long. Eventually, it leaks. That's just the way it is.
Personally, I think the conspiracy theories bring up more questions than they answer. They debunk themselves. They don't need anyone to do it for them.

It's quite an interesting theory, and I DO believe that the government has the power to do it, but I don't think they did it because so many people have been allowed to think about it.
The government has the power to tap into any phone conversation, e-mail, forum, and chat room it wants to and monitor every single word that is written or muttered. If they really DID cause 9/11 and someone first mused about the idea, they'd send CIA agents over to the person's house faster than he could sneeze, snuff him out, and make it look PERFECTLY like suicide, keeping the rumor from spreading and gaining momentum. Such a bombshell as the government's involvement would NEVER be allowed out of the box if it were really true.
People who believe that they did it are, I imagine, so wanting to believe in America's omnipotence that the idea of a security breach as dramatic as 9/11 isn't only unrealistic, but just embarassing. I believe we as a nation are very powerful, but no one is 100% safe either.

Don't believe the US government had anything to do with it.
Why do I believe that?
Basically because, even with a very intelligent administration, it would be impossible to pull something like that off without enough people knowing about it that someone would talk.
And as I have said before; this administration doesn't seem capable of planning a breakfast menu, much less a massive conspiracy.
(Cool! I managed to argue against Bush having anything to do with carrying out 9/11 AND slammed him at the same time!)

Only people with the IQ of a lemur think the government had anything to do with 9/11. I bet those same folks have a continuous running version of Chariots of the Gods running on their DVD player at home.

No the government had nothing to do with it. What company planted the explosives. What keeps them from telling on GWB. No one in D.C can keep a secret. The Pentagon leaks things all the time . More than one person had to have done it. What about the video's of the planes. Who payed off all of the witness's of it. Where did thousand's of people go. They just left their family and friends. You may not like Bush ,but come on, all of this for revenge ,money and oil.

I think that the idea that the government planned or allowed 9/11 is absolutely ridiculous. What would be gained? While I think the Bush administration borders on evil, I don't think they would allow that to happen. However, I think there was major negligence to take action on the August 6th presidential briefing that Bush received. In plain English, it forewarned Bush about the possibility of Al Qaeda/ Bin Laden attacking the US by hijacking a passenger aircraft. Run a search on "August 6th presidential briefing". You can see the actual report for yourself.

I've heard this theory before and I think it's a little absurd. It really did a lot of damage to several corporate headquarters (and our gov't doesn't do anything against the blessing of our corporate giants). There were also a lot of government offices destroyed on 9-11.

I don't believe in a 911 conspiracy. I question the credibility of every 'expert' that publishes a report that it was an inside job and a cover up. It's not hard to find out how much those people hate Bush or America, and then it's easy to see how they're results are just biased hate.
Also: why would the government stage an elaborate plane hijacking scenario just to blow up the towers with controlled demolitions? Why not just blow them up outright! It nearly happened in 1993, so it wouldn't have been unheard of!
