It's a very odd thing-- to be obsessed with being thin, yet be completely careless about eating healthy foods. People gorge themselves on unhealthy packaged "diet foods" and feel hungry, moody, tired, miserable.... what a waste of so much time, energy and life!

I do!!! I see so many girls- and guys too- that have eating disorders or think they are fat. My little 6 year old niece- who is in a 4T sized pant!!!- thinks she's fat. It's her moms fault, and since she is now living with my parents, she has stopped saying that for the most part. When the images you see and the feedback you get are all about thin, Thin, THIN, how can you not start to think like that? Here it's hard for girls because if they aren't really skinny, then most guys won't date them. There are so many girls who are perfectly normal, healthy girls who can't get a date because guys see them as fat. Isn't that the worst thing that can happen to a teenage girl? No wonder girls starve themselves, or throw up everything they eat!! They are trying to reach what others see as perfect instead of looking at the real image of perfect. Perfect doesn't mean size 0!! Perfect means what size your bone structure and height will allow. It doesn't matter if you are 5'7" and in a size 10!! That's where you are supposed to be!!! I'm sorry to rant.. I'll get off my soapbox now, just take if from someone in the medical field- being skinny can cause a lot more problems then carrying 5 extra pounds!!!!

Yes I think they are obsessed with being a perfect media shaped portrait of beauty. Being thin happens to part of it, I think it is getting better now that we are getting healthy but not stick thin role models out there like Jennifer Hudson and Tyra Banks. It doest seem that "some" people in society can let others be if they dont fit in the box. Why do we make fun of others when they are fluffy or have a big nose? These sort of comments force people to constantly think about looking like our famous role models that happen to be shoved in our faces every waking moments in our life. If every one could first accept and love themselves and let others accept and love themselves we will may be able to over come to controlling urges to be perfect. I believe that God made each and every one of us, while we may not be perfect in mans eyes we are in Gods eyes and that is what should matter.

Society is obsessed, but unfortunately its only making us fatter. People see stick thin models and actresses, and begin to feel inadequate about their size, and then develop unhealthy eating habits that result in weight gain. There's a growing gap between anorexic and obese, and soon there wont be any normal people left.

Today's Society may not be totally obsessed with being thin, but we all know it is better for your health than to be grossly overweight.

I think it's starting to loosen with women like Jennifer Hudson making the cover of Vogue.

Have you had a good look around you? Society is overweight. Advertisers however see us through skinny glasses and hire models that fit their plan not reality.
