This one depends on the state. In MA where i live its $2,000. However if the case is about motor vehicle accident you can ask for the full damage to your vehicle. I have seen states with maximums of $4,000. Most small claims court web-cites clearly state the maximum. A simple Internet search will answer your question accurately.

FYI, if your are damaged more than the maximum and don't want to go to district court, you can always choose small claims court collect the maximum and then eat the remainder of your loss. But that decision is up to you.

I depends on the state law where the court is located. Different states have different limits.
In PA the max award is the amount of the claim up to $5,000.

Most small claims courts go up to 5000 but you usually have to have prrof of the amount you are suing for. Rarely does small claims give punitive damages

It depends on the county you live in. My county limit is $2400.00
Check with your county clerk of court, small claims, they can let you know. If the person lives in a different county, check to see which one has the highest limit because you can sue in the county that you, or the defendant lives in. Good luck!!

It is different in different jurisdictions. Most are not more than $5,000.00. Some jurisdictions are only $4,000.00 and some maybe even lower. Check with your local small claims court.

when you use small claims cort you save quite a lot of money. you get to be your own lawyer. no need to hire one. little or no money is needed to file a claim. unfortunatly this is for trivial claims like lawnmowers not being returned or small personal loans and unpaid rent. never a great deal of money. for that you need a lawyer and a bigger court venue like probate or circuit
