They are so beautiful and they taste so good .... and it seems to me that the growers have outwitted the musty problem that they had at one time.... so what is it still? Are they fragile, or do they spoil quickly ... or do we export most of them?

I can't think of anything more expensive in the greengrocers, can you?

They spoil so quickly that sometimes they are already bad when I buy them.

Hello, well raspberries and also blackberries are a very delicate fruit and they are very difficult to harvest, the vines are very thornie and takes great skill in picking them. My mother in law raised them and sold them by the gallon; and I would help her, sometimes and your finger tips and arms get the thorn tips and they burn and itch so bad until you get them out. She had done this all her life and she was very skilled at it.. Every one bought the berries for like you said they are so very good and she sold them for far less than the stores, her own self doing the labor, and they where so fresh. Hope this answers your question.. Enjoy the Berries they are also good for alot of other things, jellies and jams and best of all in my book ,cobbler!!

as I live in maine we get rasberries here. they don't last long if you blink you may miss the season. They are not easy to pick. You have to crawl into the thorn bushes. and there could be snakes. You can not put to many into a container or they will smoosh. so most are imported. Hope this helps you understand. They are great and I think they are worth the trouble.

They are quite fragile. I guess they can only by picked by hand. You have to grab the berry gently and pull it off its stem. We had three big rows of them in own backyard when I was young. They were in a fairly shady part of the yard, and they bear fruit twice a year - spring and fall.

Labor to pick, and the transportation. As you said, they are fragile. Grow your own!
