I'm hoping you're kidding; however the hot water heater is what makes the water hot in the first place. The water comes into the house cold, is split off to feet into the hot water heater which is then connected to your hot supply pipe and to faucets, etc

I've always called them "water heaters". I suppose some people call them Hot Water Heaters, but not many.
Reason: Probably the same as we drive on the parkway and park the driveway!

In the trade they are called water heaters, in the code they are refered to as water heaters, on construction drawings and permit applications they are called water heaters, only lay people and those who think they are smarter than us plumbers call them "hot water heaters." By the way there is such a thing as a "hot water heater", we call it a "steam furnace"
