Why don't you pick a style of poetry, such as free verse, then tell about how algebra is applied in life? Or you could paraphrase a song substituting algebraic terms for some of the lyrics, some of the golden oldies and/or country songs probably are most adaptable. Good luck.

50 words is a bit harsh. Jesus.
y = mx + c
g represents gravity
m is for mass
transform with la place
and integrate between a and b
Calculus subjects me to stress
The technique clears up a mess
I put on my specs
Figure out the function of x
And then I go and get wasted at the weekend.
Ok I couldn't finish off the last bit. Hope this helps.
