If we don't have the rule of law in this country then we are truly lost.

I believe that scum deserves to hang for what he did. But we need to respect the institutions we have created in order to maintain a civil and decent society. Burying someone alive makes us no better than this piece of garbage, no matter what he did. That's not the mark of a civil and just society, it's anarchy. We must do better than that.

Maintaining a civil society is the only thing that keeps the United States, as Lincoln said, "the last best hope for mankind on earth."

I agree, but the 8th amendment to the Constitution bans cruel and ususual punishment. Burial alive probably would be cruel and unusual by anyone's standard. He should get the death penalty. It will be administered in one of two ways: 1) lethal injection as prescribed by Florida law or 2) putting him into general population and letting an inmate with a daughter at home bat his brains out. The second method, frustratingly enough, would be carried out much quicker as happened with Jeffrey Dahmer.

I don't believe in the death penalty, but I have a feeling that even if Couey is sentenced to life in prison - he won't last very long.

I won't lose any sleep over that scumbag either way.

Yes he did bury Jessica alive.

I think the father of Jessica should be able to throw the dirt on his nasty face.

I watched a little of the court trial reruns until the way he was acting made me sick. I am sure he will pay for the things he has done soon (I think Florida has the death penalty) but its not soon enough and it won't be enough to make her parents feel better....

YES. Or, just put him in general population and the problem will work itself out.

Nope, I think they should cut off his twinky with a dull knife and let him bleed to death!!

Burying him alive would be too easy of a death.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's one of the options.

He should suffer a severe and humiliating death.
