I told him I would do 100% of the work. I push and push to get a dog but nothing works. All I have is work and my husband no friends and dog would really make me happy. Sometimes I feel like doesnt care about my feelings. What should I do? I'm very unhappy. Well it will be a few years befor we buy a house I now think its a copout. Just something to say to try to keep me off the issue.

It sounds to me that you want something more then a dog like a baby for instance but really maybe your hubby doesn't like dogs.
If you really want a dog then get one are you an adult or a child
don't let your mate boss you around or tell you what to do you have a life as well as he does. Dogs are known to be great company and are loyal, loving and have also be known to reduce stress. I have 2 dogs,2 birds, and a cat but my wife and I love animals and these are the children of the house. You need to tell your hubby that you are depressed and unhappy and that having a dog or something to take care of would brighten your day. Good luck and God bless.

I would say for you to not push the issue. I begged and begged for a dog and said that I would do 100% of the work. But that isn't always true. What if you aren't feeling good or aren't there when the dog needs to go out. A pet is work for everyone in the family. If he is totally against it then don't push it. My dog is the main cause of any fights that I have with my husband ex: accident on the carpet, needs to go out when I haven't made it home from work etc.

Just let him know that you really want a dog and it would make you happy. And who knows maybe he'll cave and get you one..then it would be his decision and he'll feel better about helping you with the dog. Don't force it on him, he'll only resent the poor puppy.

Smart man. Having a dog in a rental house/apartment is a nightmare.

-You might violate your rental agreement if you have a pet.

-Dogs need space. If you both work, the dog cannot be locked up indoors for 10 hours! That is cruel!

-Not to mention that he will eat your couch, chew your slippers, scratch the wall and door frames, poop on the carpet, pee in the corners, turn over the plants...just cos he is bored!

- If you live in a apartment building, if the dog is alone and he crys, barks, etc. the dog can upset the neighbors and you can get the cops call on you.

A dog is a living thing, is not therapy. If you feel bored and unhappy, having an animal is not going to make you feel any better.

I'm with your husband. Wait for the house so you can properly accomodate a dog and give him a happy, healthy life. Address the real issue appropiatly instead of addinf stress (an unhapiness) to your life.

Good luck

I feel that you should respect him on this one and wait til you get the house. You do need to start making some friends though as well. Ask him if you can get a turtle or something like that that is smaller. What kind of a dog do you want? You really need to take up a new hobby or something like that so you are not so unhappy and bored. A dog wont bring true happiness just to let you know. Would he allow you to get a cat?

depends on your living arrangements if you rent some landlords wont allow for pets some require deposits some charge more for monthly. just do what my wife did. she just bought one anyhow.our german shephard died so she wanted another dog i said no I was too sad to go thru that again. She came home from work the next day with a puppy. kinda hard to return a dog.

I think your issues are deeper than wanting a dog. If you think a dog is the only thing that will make you happy, you've got a bigger fish to fry.
