Of course there never was any pink air, any more than Exxon really put a tiger in your tank. I always thought it was a great ad gimmick since you can't see the air in your tires, how do you know if its pink or not.

It just faded away in favor of the next big ad idea.

Sounds like it just faded away, like a lot of other advertising campaigns. My guess would be that people eventually figure out that pink air didn't make any difference to their tires.
