My cervix is low and very soft. I'm not familiar with the whole high/low and firm/soft cervix thing. So what does a low, soft cervix indicate? I am ttc, and period is due in 5-6 days.

This close to your period the position of your cervix won't tell you very much. Really the only times during the month when your cervical position will tell you anything is before ovulation. I've had a low soft cervical position only to get my period the next day. Soft, high, open, and wet or SHOW is what you are looking for to tell if you are ovulating. If you'd like to learn more about monitoring your cervical changes I recommend checking out http://www.fertilityfriend.com or http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/cervix-change.html.

Good luck!

Your cervix should be SHOW. Soft, High, Open, and Wet. Be sure to check it around day 10 and then each day after that up to day 16. It is best to be in the same position each day. the best position is to place one foot on the side of the tub and insert. try it at the same time each day if possible and be sure to wash hands before but do not use an antibacterial soap as that can kill off future sperm deposits.

Are you saying that you are already pregnant or that you are just trying to conceive? I'm not sure what these would have to do with ttc but if you are already pregnant you could have an incompetent cervix. If you have an incompetent cervix you will probably need a cerclage to carry a pregnancy to term. Do not let a doctor tell you that you need to have lost 1-3 second trimester babies before he will diagnose you with IC. That is the old school of thought, if you fit special criteria you can be diagnosed before you loose you first baby. Good luck, I hope I've helped.

when i was pg with my first...before i got pg i noticed when i was ov becuz it was high and soft and lots of stretchy stuff was coming out but after that i didnt realize if it was low or high..cuz after i tested positive and never thought to touch my cervix. but now im ttc again and my period is due and my cervix is soft and not too high or low so i dont know. they say that its suppose to be high when ur pregnant but others say it could be low. i guess everyone is different and you'll just have to wait and see if your af comes. hope this helps
