Hello,

I am going to be revamping a website. I am fairly new, but not totally new to it. I use Dreamweaver, and barely managed.

I had a friend recommend Nvu for the editing of the site itself. Does anyone know of a good free Flash creator, editor? I'd like to make motion menus.

I am thinking that I would like my logo to go to the top left, and then the menu underneath on the left ... but i would like to to fly into the screen when it loads ...

How difficult is this task?

Thanks

Doing the stuff in Macromedia Flash 8 will consume a lot of time and expertise. So I would say you should use a flash alternative like swish max, download it from http://www.swishzone.com

Use this to do what ever you like. If you need help with this software or even help with Flash 8 then go to http://www.tutorialized.com and http://www.swish-db.com and there are many swish forums. ok. The effects are pre made and 100% customizable and is easy to use.

Hola 7

It is fairly easy if you put some effort into it... Nvu is easy for editing webpages (html, htm etc) and it is available for free.

For Flash you may use my favourite (Swishmax) also downloadable from the internet. The thing is I do not know if you'll be able to use it since you only have 14days and there after you have to buy the license to be able to use it.

You can also make easy multimedia (like) web button with the mouse over effects. You can use some of the button creating softwares available on the internet or use my not so favourite program, Microsft Frontpage2003.

Web design is easy, you just have to know how to use the programs you are working with and be creative..

The last option is something I don't recommend but is always works. Simply download some already made templates and edith or modify whatever you need to modify... There are some free templates on the internet (HTML and FLASH)

Good luck and don't forget my points ne?

PS: don't have any good links now. use google and type a combination of there keywords: 'free', 'template', 'flash' and 'html'

Hi,
Coffeecup software have dozens of web design related softwares including a flash creator called Firestarter which is quite simple to use.

Whilst it's not free, it's not expensive and you can trial it to see if you like it. I used it for several years until moving to use SwishMax.

If you want to create Menus, Coffecup do have a free DHTML Menu Builder.

One thing you should be aware of if you don't know already when using Flash on web sites is that it can make your site search engine unfriendly and user unfriendly.

Search engines don't like Flash, they like plain text on the page, they also can't follow links in Flash menus which could make it difficult to find your other site pages. This means you also need to have a text menu as well as a flash one and probably a sitemap as well.

Many users don't like flash, especially when it slows down the loading of a page or acts as a splash screen when a site first loads.

Just thought I would mention it ;-)
