Seriously, people in here have been scaring askers into thinking all abortions are scissor-stabbing "partial birth" procedures and/or saline injections. Fact is, PBA is a procedure reserved for emergency situations (like to save the mother's life or if the fetus has died) and saline injections are illegal. Also, no elective (read: chosen) abortions are performed after 24 weeks, where the fetus can survive outside the woman's body.

I also see people in here citing obvious propaganda and biased sites. Priests for life? Lies. Abort73? Lies.

I can understand why people would be against abortion, but if you really feel so strongly about it why lie about the issue to gain support? Wouldn't it be best to tell the truth if you feel it convinced you?

Because, you see, if pro-lifers were to tell the truth, they would lose support. The pro-life movement is, for the most part, supported by appeals to emotion (which are logical fallacies), misinformation, and bad "logic."

Stop lying to vulnerable, scared girls and women. A fetus is neither a child nor a baby. Abortion is not murder. Doctors that perform abortions are not heartless, money grubbing monsters. Adoption and foster care are not the happy, shiny alternatives that many people think they are.

Women, it's your choice, and yours alone.

For the record, the statistics you see in a planned parenthood website was already ripped from academic, scholarly, peer-reviewed works. You can read these same facts in your local college psychology and sociology textbooks.

However, you will not see the same facts from pro-life and anti-abortion websites in academia.

...Looks like the social sciences indirectly support the choice of abortion being kept legal after all.

In my opinion though, it is my observations that most pro-lifer's are "fundie" Christians, and that especially the conservative Christians (whether or not they like to admit it) will not flinch lying in order to serve their agenda. Yes, I just stated that Christians act in ethically deplorable ways, hypocritical ways in order to preserve their status quo!

What's the agenda in this case? It has very little to do with actually loving and caring for children. "Demonizing" abortion helps preserve the ideological construct of a popular interpretation of the bible. (We all know that the bible has more than one way of interpreting it, else it would have been "proven" as a false book after Galileo discovered a heliocentric solar system).

I completely agree. If your so positive that your opinions/morals/wishes/desires etc. are the way you think everyone else should live then you should not need to lie in order to further your agenda.

It's sad to see the lies people think that will help solve the issue when in fact it just makes it worse.

Please, stop lieing to the askers. They deserve to know the truth even if it's something you don't agree with.

YOU are the one who needs to get your facts straight. Even pro-aborts admit that most partial-birth abortions are committed for non-health related reasons. Ron Fitzsimmons, executive director of the National Coalition of Abortion Providers (a pro-abortion lobbying organization), told The New York Times on February 27, 1997: "In the vast majority of cases, the procedure is performed on a healthy mother with a healthy fetus that is 20 weeks or more along. The abortion-rights folks know it, the anti-abortion folks know it, and so, probably, does everyone else."

I have never seen any legislation that specifically prohibits saline abortions. (If there is one, please provide your source.) They have fallen out of favor in America, not because they are so horrific for the child (which they are), but because they were found to be dangerous for the mothers and often found to result in live births.

George Tiller is the nation's most infamous late-term abortionist, and he has admitted that MANY of his clients are teens who hid their pregnancies until late in their pregnancy or women who are aborting for so-called "mental health" reasons. As you know, Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in all 50 states and made abortion legal through 9th month if necessary for mother’s “health.” The Doe v. Bolton decision was handed down by the Supreme Court on the same day and defined “health” as “all factors—physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the women’s age—relevant to the well-being of the patient.” In other words, if a woman decides she's not "emotionally" ready to give birth, or decides she's too young or too old to let her baby live, or decides she already has enough children, she can kill her baby through the ninth month. She may need to go to another state to do it, but it can be done.

Do you really think first-trimester abortions are less horrific than partial-birth abortions and saline abortions? In most first trimester abortions, the child is dismembered alive, piece by piece.

There is NO SUCH THING as an unbiased abortion website. Everyone has a bias. Women just need to decide whose bias is backed up by FACTS. Tell me: who do you think is going to be more unbiased, people who are in the business of SELLING abortion, or people who have NO financial stake in a woman's decision? Tell us--what lies are found on Abort73.com? Everything on that site is well-documented. You make broad accusations with no proof. Do you think women can't handle the truth about abortion?

There is NO NEED for pro-lifers to lie. Abortion is horrific enough on its own.

I think sometimes it is due to guilt from people who have had abortions in the past and are now having regrets----I do agree with you though------honest is still always the best policy.
