It is the ultimate compliment that a goalie can get. It means that little, if anything, gets past him in the net. We have a goalie here for floor hockey at school that everyone calls "Stonewall" because of that characteristic in his game: not much gets past him, if anything. And he likes being called that, so therefore it is a huge compliment to any goalie who receives it.

Yes, Brick Wall means you're like a solid wall at the face of the goal, not letting anything get by you.
Similar to the idea of 'Stone walling' someone, Stoning a shooting means stopping a shot cold and with authority.
The thing you don't want to be called is a Sieve, implying you have many holes and the puck is going right through.

When you're trying to learn, there's no such thing as a stupid question. :-)
Like everyone else said: Yes, for a goalie it's good to be called a brick wall, because that means he's so solid and reliable that nothing gets past him. Or almost nothing! Example: "Yeomans was a brick wall in goal tonight, making 35 saves on 36 shots."

Yes it is a good thing. It means you are really solid in goal. You don't let anything get past you. Would you want to run into a brick wall? I'd hope that you wouldn't, so that is the best comparison.

I just played my first year of varsity hockey this year at my high school and surprisingly started all season. I'm a goalie myself and had a lot of success. One of the best compliments i recieved from my teammates and friends was that i played like a brick wall. It seems like a weird compliment but to a goalie it means a lot.

YESSSSSSSSSS
that means that the goalie is outstanding and lets nothing by them. In other words think of a brick wall.. not much can get by it right? Soo being called a brick wall means nothing can get by you.

Try walking or driving through a brick wall! Also I have hear the phrase "like a sponge" It confused me but it was explained that the net minder just seemed to absorb all the hits and the pucks seemed to disappear in his body.

Oh yeah. A brick wall is good. Hard to get a puck through one. If someone called you a sieve that would be bad (full of holes).

As a former Netminder I ought to know it certainlly does, what being referred to as a "Brick Wall" means that you don't surrender very many Goals to the opposition.
