With the scandals of last season and the pathetic "punishments" meted out by the Italian FA. With the ongoing racism in Serie A that is not met with any real opposition. With the murder of a police officer by soccer hooligans. And now, with the on-the-pitch thuggery of Internazionale, isn't it time that UEFA put a 5-year ban on all Italian clubs in European competitions? After all, the English teams were band for a decade because of our hooligan problem and even teams (like Norwich, for instance) who had never had a thug problem at all, were band just because they were English. Why should the cheats and thugs of Italy be given tiny fines, when they obviously need a proper education. Or is UEFA just a racist organisation?

Wot. I did say a "5 year-ban". I don't think that my language is bitter. I just want some principle and integrety in football. Italian football is a disgrace at the moment, and will continue to be if nothing substantial is done. English teams won the European 6 times in 7 years before they were banned (The Big One). I don't think you have made any valid points.

You sound like your bitter about this all? I suppose UEFA don't because Italy are one of the big 3 European footballing countries, with massive fan support. If a 10 year ban was to be imposed it could be crippling to the Champions League/UEFA Cup in that the loss in revenue from the competition would mean that teams may start focusing on domestic titles rather than the two major European titles. Also all the big players will leave Italy, for the likes of England and Spain, further monopolising the dominance of those two countries. I mean what would we rather have, 3 big countries or 2? If anything I think a ban on the clubs involved will be more appropriate as this will give the smaller clubs in Italy a chance to blossom, or crash and burn in Europe, while at the same time allow Italian clubs to participate in the major competitions.

I agree something needs to be done, and unfortuanately this could be the only way forward, but somehow I do not see it happening. UEFA have the power but are influenced by the money-men. But Italian football is so corrupt even now, imagine what would happen if they were kicked out of European competitions?

i don't think we should say all the apples in the box are bad.
every country have got certain problems within there ranks.
i think these issues should be dealt with game by game.
yes ban the cheats and thugs but I'm afraid you will find samples of this behaviour in every league in the world every week.
so just banning one league is in my opinion unjust.
please remember the English clubs were banned because people died. the other night they were acting like prats

Can't argue with that.
A very good point, well thought out, and well made.
