"Server" is generally the piece of hardware on which the website files sit.

Web server generally means the devices is dedicated to serving pages,

Application server means the devices is dedicated to a particular application

Database servers are often separated from the "web Server" through firewalled security within the Web providers network.

The database server holds information in database tables and fields of the transactions if they exist.

In order to find the "server" you can do a couple of things.

perform the "nslookup" command.

nslookup www.Domainname.TLD

example www.yahoo.com

However because large server farms are redundant you may be looking at multiple addresses because the application if load balanced acrossed multiple devices.

What do you mean by "find"? When you open a website, the server has given you the data. You found it by (usually) resolving a DNS name into an IP address.
