Replacing one cylinder would be almost as hard as replacing them all. And you'd still have an old worn out engine. It would be better to get a rebuilt.

If you have 1 bad cylinder.. better to just get the whole motor rebuilt.. not much more $ wise and same proceedure.. If you have 1 bad cyl.. chances are you are going to have another ... I dont even know anyone that would just rebuild only 1 cylinder in an engine.. and granted i've been outta this for a long time.. but i wouldnt touch a 1 cycl rebuild in any circumstances

And as for the answer above.. obviously that person never heard of cylinder inserts (very common these days) But still.. I wouldnt in my life consider a 1 Cyl repair.. thats just stupid..

You cant replace one cylinder at a time. The engine block is a solid unit with 4 cylinders (holes) that the pistons are housed. This will be a major expense. Just buy another good, used car.

It's impossible to replace individual cylinders as they are cast in an aluminum or cast iron block containing all the 4 cylinders. It is possible to replace parts within a cylinder such as rings and a standard piston. If it's necessary to bore a cylinder for a larger piston and rings you have created a un-balanced condition and you'll eventually tear the main bearings up and ruining the crankshaft.
