I'm going to answer yes only, and ONLY because its the NFC Worst. They may not OWN it, because I dont think any team in that division is capable of dominating anything. If the 49ers win eight, it might be enough to get them a wildcard. If they win ten, then they're division champs. I'm concerned about the OFFENSE on this team though, not the defense. The defense will probably be middle of the pack, but Alex Smith has no receivers to throw to, and the 49ers foolishly gave Lelie a contract, when Stallworth, Moulds, Horn, McCardell, etc are all still on the market. They need to draft some WR's but they probably can get some quality guys in rounds 2 and 3. I think guys like Sidney Rice, Dewayne Bowe, and Robert Meachem would fit good with the Niners

I think that the 49ers will make it to the playoffs but as either a 5th or 6th seed. I predict a 9-7 record for the 49ers and second place in the division. This year is the year of the Rams, they will probably slip right by the 49ers at 10-6.
They have Frank Gore who is probably the second best running back in the NFC, only because he has a fumble just about every game. Alex Smith is starting to look less like a rookie and more like a experienced veteran. The 49ers also have some great recievers.

I apologize but not this season..... I've watched SF 49er football since the 70's to know that this team may not perform well enough to make it to the playoffs again.
As I meet pro athletes while working with EA Sports and talk to them about the sport, the news is the same for the 49ers. I would put my money on the Seahawks to own the NFC West this year, but as a true sports fan, win or lose, the 49ers are still my favorite NFL team.

probably, we are going to compete probably with the Cardinals. the Seahawks are really doing nothing to imporve its team (only re-signing some linemen) Alexander is starting to deteriorate (even when fully healthy, he couldn't muster more than 80 yards per game during the games he started and was not on the injruy report) Hassleback is being trusted to throw more, but the reason he had so much success was because of Alexander's running. the Rams are aging even more quickly and they are not making much moves either
i dunno if we will OWN it, but we could barely take it. i mean we did beat the Seahawks 2 times last season and i really think that shows that they are slowly getting worse, due to the lack of young talent on that offense. the Cardinals have a very scary offense, and Nolan addressed that with the signing of Lewis and Clemonts. but right now we need a big Nose Tackle to take the A-gaps, because if we do get a good nose tackle we can most likely put more pressure on the QB.. we take a Carriker or a Amobi Okoye. i really want Landry or Hall because i really want sure up our secondary. we signed Clemonts with that much money really having in mind that he will not play for all those years (because of his age).

Be a competator maybe, OWN it absolutly not. Come on now you guys made a few upgrades. The Seahawks will be healthy next year, The Cardinals can be the best offense in that division once they get their O-line straightened out and the Rams are not dead either. You guys have a legitmate shot at a wildcard but I dont see it happening.

No chance. Seattle is still a power to be reconed with. You might have beat them twice this season, but once everyone is healthy you don't stand a chance.
I say in the draft you take Dwayne Jarrett. There is no stand out reciever on the team.

Possibly. Great free agent signings. Except for that CRAZY contract to Clements. 80 Million is not worth for someone like Clements. Maybe an Asante Samuel or Champ Bailey but not Nate Clements.

Own? I doubt. Seattle has made some good moves and will again have a healthy Alexander and Hasselbeck back. Should be a good battle.
