I hate to answer a question with a question but why in the world are you with this guy? If I read this right you said BOYFRIEND!
What makes YOU happy? Don't worry about what he wants, what do YOU want? Don't depend on him to validate you---be your own person. I would get out of that relationship and quick. He doesn't support you - that will never be good and control belongs to you over you, no one else! Good luck!

He does this for one of two reasons.

One because he loves you and wants better for you knowing that you are better than the jobs you are taking.

-or-

He is thinking about what a future would be like with someone whose happy just to "do a little something." rather than to have bigger aspirations and it upsets him.

-or-

In either case the proper thing would be not for him to put you down but to encourage and help you to find something more meaningful for you to do.

Really, Just wanting to do a "little something" is a losers mentality. If you try to do something little, you will succeed. If you try to get somewhere big, you will succeed. It's just a higher mountain to climb.

He does this because he wants to tear you down and control. I do not feel he is good for you and your life at all and he definitley does not love you if he is treating you this way. If i were you i would break up with him and move on with my life as he will only get worse. Good luck to you and keep your chin up!

I think he is insecure. It's very important that you feel good what you do for a living. Because the end of the day you are the one who's is walking in your shoes. Maybe you are doing better than him and he is jelous of you.

You need to leave him. He's treating you like a doormat. In the end you'll never meet his expectations. He's controlling and insecure. Time to move on...

Because he is a control freak. You say he is your boyfriend? Get out while you can!

A man wont change, find a man that you don't feel should change.

I have a feeling that your boyfriend is a perfectionist.
If you think that it pulls your self esteem down, tell him that his remarks are not making you any good.

you need to talk to him and ask him why he's treating you this way. you have the right to work where you want. don't let him put you down. tell him you like your job and you don't want him putting you down anymore!
