They generaly dont check for a heart beat this early beacuse it is rare to hear it before 10 weeks. However if they do a sonogram, and some do some dont this early, they will do a trans vaginal because it is almost impossible to see over the pelvis right now and they may be able too. I heard my daughters heart beat during a trans vaginal sonogram at 8 weeks 2 days. I would call and ask if they are going to do a sonogram and if they are take your mom, just have her stand out of the room when they are doing your pap and stuff... and when they do the trans vaginal its nothing, it sounds bad, but its not. Its easier than the pap :) Congratulations on your first baby. I wish you luck, and hope this was helpful.

It depends where you live, but in most places they will not do an ultrasound at eight weeks unless you require it for dating purposes. Even if you did, the ultrasound is usually not done at the doctor's office, but at another place. Additionally, 8 weeks is too early to hear the heartbeat on a Doppler - that usually doesn't happen until 10 or 12 weeks. However, good luck! It should be fun and you can ask a lot of questions. Having your mother there to help you is a great idea, because there may be a lot of information to absorb.

They most likely won't be doing an ultrasound and heartbeat check. The heartbeat, I was told, isn't heard that early in the pregnancy. Your next appt will be when they try to hear the heartbeat and do an ultrasound, this will be another 4 weeks after your 1st appt. You'll get reading material, reading material and more reading material. All about food, health, responsibilities etc. Like you said, you'll do the blood and urine and may not even do the pap smear until your next appt. Your doc will get a full survey over yours and your family's health history.

I purely have been given back from my first appointment. i'm 5 wks 4 days and that i basically observed a nurse. She drew a large form of blood gave me a flu shot and took some urine. She additionally asked my a large form of scientific background questions. It wasn't too undesirable aside from the needles! I delivered my husband alongside, yet he did not extremely do plenty different than carry my hand whilst the needle area got here. I even have an appointment with my usual practitioner in 2 weeks so i will almost be 8 wks then. The nurse advised me that i gets an examination and pap smear and gets an ultrasound to ensure that the toddler is coming up. i visit convey my husband alongside for that one simply by fact I hate getting pap smears. i'm hoping that this helps and congratulations!

on your first apointment def be prepared to change a lot. youll more than likely get an ultra sound, hear the heart, pap smear, and blood work. also pee in a cup(but youll do that everytime). my first time i was 10 weeks, but i have a friend that went at 8 weeks like you are now and she got the same thing. have fun and bring a video tape so you can record it. (most people dont know b/c the doctors dont tell you) but every ultra sound machine have the vhs tape recorders. check with your doctor's office to make sure though. its an awesome thing to see your baby whenever you want even if its the same thing over and over.

I doubt they will check for a heartbeat. Most dopplers can't pick up a heartbeat until at least 10 weeks and usually closer to 12.
I had 2 appoints before my midwife checked for a heartbeat at 11.5 weeks.

They told me my midwives office that they willnot even listen until 10 weeks, but they wanted me to schedule my appointment for 12 weeks so I could hear it forsure. I would call them and ask if you will get to hear the heartbeat or get an ultrasound that way you willknow forsure she will not miss it! Congrats!

Congrats!
I'll be going through the same thing on March 14-- i'll be 8 weeks then.
During my first pregnancy, I took my mother in law with me at the 16 week check up.
Then, we could really hear the heart beat, and see the baby moving around on the screen.

i doubt they will do an ultrasound. probally a few weeks after your first visit they will, just to check everything out. as for being able to hear the heartbeat, i'm not sure if they'll be able to hear it either. they're just going to do the typical checkup and probally give you some info on what to expect during the next few months. congratulations!!!
