but the point is... should she be allowed to teach? it's not like she encourage you to learn...

No teacher should call you stupid. Tell the principal and explain whats going on. Get some friends or people in your class because they saw it too. Trust me, a teacher was calling someone in my brothers school stupid and the problem was resolved because students went to the authorities. Teachers should be supportive, but this teacher doesn't sound supportive!

No, it is never acceptable for a teacher to call a student stupid. If she thinks that you are not working up to your potential, she should talk to you in private about tutoring, etc.

I don't like the part about her being a sex maniac--if that's the case, it may be better to talk to her in the presence of others (parent, principal, etc.).

From what you've said here, it doesn't sound as though she should be teaching. At the very least the school should make her take a sabbatical leave--and straighten her act out. If she doesn't improve, she should be fired for good.

It is not right that she is calling names. Teachers should be in the classroom to encourage and guide students. This is a serious issue that should be brought to the attention of the principal of the school. If the principal does not want to hear your claim, have your parents help you formally contact the school board in your district. If they do not want to address the situation, you can contact the State Board of Education. All teachers have a Teacher Code of Ethics that they sign and agree to follow when they are entering the position. The teacher can be reprimanded for this behavior, and it needs to be addressed as it can cause self esteem issues within the students. Make sure that you document each time something such as this happens with what was said, time and date. The principal/school board/state will want to have proof of these things happening.

Whether people think she should be teaching and whether she's allowed to teach are two different matters.

Technically, she can't call you stupid. She can't degrade you and discourage you from learning, that's harassment and it goes against her purpose for working at the school. If she is doing this to you, you can talk to the school principal and tell him/her that this is happening. (Keep your cool if you do mention it to a principal, or else they may not be so keen on helping you, unfortunately)

If she is constantly mentioning sex, then I'd bring that up, too, in your meeting with the principal. Say it distracts you from learning and you find it offensive and inappropriate, since it sounds like that's the way she presents it.

Good luck!

How you say something is more important than what you say. This I have told and demonstrated to my many student teachers and the advice has served them well. You can call a student a big dummy with a smile on your face and care in your voice.' You big dummy, where is your homework?" You can also say these words without a smile on your face and with distain in your voice. The first is OK. The second teacher may be in the wrong profession..

she should quit! she probably has problems. i hate people who take their frustrations out on others. plus, teachers are supposed to motivate the students to do well, not pull them down and pick on them. that is so wrong.

you know, right before i started working at my new job, i went to a seminar that talked about customer service, and the right and wrong way to treat the people around you on the job. the rules applies to anyone in any organisation, schools included. if that is the way she behaves, she should stay home!

Sounds like she has some social issues and should not be a teacher, because that is not okay behavior and you may want to talk to the school board.

You should talk to your school counselor about your teacher. Be ready to provide proof, like a friend that heard what she said.

No teacher should ever make negative comments about a student in front of other students.

You have to give respect to get respect.

If there is an issue you can talk to the principal, but remember if you haven't been on your best behavior in her class or in your other classes your voice will not be given much credit.
