Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children. (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

Don't you get it, God is on our side, not theirs. So it is okay for us to do it, but not them.

Christians have a Bible that includes BOTH the old and new testiments. So, while Christians primarily follow the new testiment the old testiment is still very much part of their faith and beliefs. Historically Biblical times were violent, both new and old testiments. Advice is given for those times and when similar kinds of things happen in the future. That is why The Bible is very universal and relevant even today.

That's from the Old Testament. No one disputes that the old Testament was all about sacrificing and "an eye for an eye". If you read it it sounds pretty horrible. But Jesus came and changed all that. We now follow the New Testament. Get your facts straight before you make accusations buddy.

Pay attention now.
Isaih is both Jewish and Christian.
What Isaiah was talking about those who wanted to do destory Israel something like oh shall we say the Muslims.
Lastly turn the other cheek is about is about if someone insults you and you have two cheeks after that you run out of cheeks.

Maybe you need some more Bible lessons first.

OH so easy for an atheist to butcher the context of the scriptures.

This wasn't about what Jews would do. This was about what would happen to Bablyon for their disobedience to God.

This post has zero to do with politics.

It's all part of that Babylon is cursed for ever scenario.

Why Bush would want to try to bring prosperity and democracy to a land that is cursed by God is beyond me.

Christianity has always been violent - the Bible is full of violence. Just look at what the missionaries and "god-fearing" exploreres did in North American, South America, Africa, the Caribbean, Australia and other places in the world. They killed tens of millions of native people "in the name of god" and, of course, to steal everything they owned.

The word religion has such bad connotations for me, that it's been responsible for wars, and it shouldn't be that way at all, it's just the way the meaning of the word has evolved to me. I have to wonder what we did on this planet before religion.

Isaiah is Old Testament. "Turn the other cheek" is New Testament. Those of us who know Jesus understand that the New Way supersedes Old Testament tenets.

I wouldn't say that Christians make Muslims look like saints, but Christianity has become a hypocritical, violent culture.

You know, if you're going to criticize Christians maybe you may want to quote from the New testament?
